Press Release (FR)

For its first participation to Drawing Now, the galerie arnaud Lebecq presents the works of two artists from South-East Asia, focusing on human connection with nature and their discussion on the visible and the invisible.

Driven by questions of identity and fascinated by mysticism and its invisible territories, Florian Sông Nguyn, of Franco-Vietnamese origin, is using ink drawing as an exploratory tool. Each creation is the result of a process rooted in contemplation, continued by researches and imagination.
In his series “Le Poids des Yeux” (The Weight of Eyes) and his extreme meticulousness based on the magnifying glass effect, he takes us into the minuscule where human beings, reduced to the scale of insects and plants, discover another world.

Imhathai Suwatthanasilp draws her inspiration from the tropical nature surrounding her studio in northern Thailand.
Contrasts of whites and blacks characterise her work using graphite and charcoal, enhanced with touches of acrylic.
Combined with meticulously rendered lines and textures, they suggest the fragility and vulnerability of our environment. Her series of drawings on canvas are evocative of mysterious and intriguing forests where real and imaginary worlds overlap. In her series on paper, she captures details from nature in representations close to abstraction.
