Born in 1988 in Seoul, South Korea, Yonghyeon YANG lives and works in Ville-d’Avray. He graduated from the École Supérieure d’Art et de Design de Grenoble (DNA, 2021; DNSEP, 2023), where he developed a painting practice centered on perception and sensorial experience.
He primarily uses acrylic on canvas, creating works based on the application of multiple layers, the exploration of textures, and spontaneous brushwork. His work follows an abstract style referring to landscapes. Inspired by nature, he creates surreal spaces that convey emotions, memories, and inner states connected to everyday life. The landscape is not depicted directly but suggested as a mental space.

His “Green Period” concept forms a central theme in his work. Designed as a colourful language, it allows him to explore different subjects and feelings across several series. Omnipresent green evokes nature, but also hope, calm, and healing. It acts as a visual and emotional balance, serving to soften themes, sometimes melancholic.
With this approach, painting becomes a means of reflection on life and acceptance of personal experiences, including those we tend to avoid. His creative process plays an essential role in this exploration.
His series “En passant” extends his reflection through the exploration of the fugacity of life and human relationships. It addresses the concept of impermanence, where only traces left in memory remain. By tapping into his own memories, the artist invites the viewer to introspection.

Yang is a member of the Association of Young Korean Artists in France (AJAC). His works have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in France and South Korea.
He has also been a finalist of prestigious awards in South Korea: the Asia Contemporary Young Artist Award – GIAF and Artcorn 2023 020 Seoul.
